One of the principal traditional dances from the State of Guerrero is the Dance of the Tecuanes, its name comes from the Nahuatl language word "tecuani" which means "tiger". The Dance is a representation of a tiger hunt. The tiger is sought after he has disturbed the villages' agricultural activity. After a long hunt and several attempts to escape, he is finally trapped by the hunter and his dog.⠀⠀⠀ Hand carved and painted tzompantle wood with boar hair and pig tooth inserts. It is important to note that these animal parts used to decorate the masks are the result of sacrifices made only for religious festivals that occur once twice to three times a year. Crafted in San Francisco Ozomatlán, Guerrero.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
